Halloween is only a few weeks away! In fact, by the time you read this, it might be even closer to the spookiest holiday of the year. Having you had a howling good time brewing since last year? Even if you couldn’t have a get-together in 2020 (no thanks to Covid!), you could remix the ideas you had then and play around with them in time for this year’s event. Things can get more complicated when you live in an apartment. What can you do? We’ve got tips!
Organize a Fangtastic Costume Contest
Costumes are one of the classic elements of a Halloween celebration. Do you know what cosplay is? It’s a combination of the words “costume” and “play,” and it takes the idea to the next level. So, a great way to make your party more fun is to ask everyone to come dressed to impress. You can come up with numerous categories, like best, worst, wackiest, and creepiest. If you have the room, set up a party table for the judges to sit at while deciding who wins what! It’s a fun way to give out gift cards and goodie bags!
A Little Bit of the Bubbly
Being scary all the time is thirsty work. That’s why it’s so important to keep your cauldron of delights topped off. Halloween-themed cocktails and other mixed drinks will have your guests shivering with antici——-pation. Assign someone to be the bartender (even if they are dressed as an ordinary person and not a creature of the night) and serve up snacks, finger foods, and pub grub. Be sure to have non-alcoholic beverages on hand for those who don’t drink or are too young to drink! There are plenty of mocktails ideas; besides, butterbeer and pumpkin juice can be just as thirst-quenching as blood-red cranberry juice or margarita mix.
Set the Atmosphere
Setting up a ghastly atmosphere doesn’t need to be hard. Music playlists, dry ice, and sound effects go a long way. Tents and canopies can add to the occasion, too. For this to work, though, you might have to talk to your management office. That way, you can let them know that you have a crowd over and that you’ll need some communal space set aside for everyone.
Creep Through the Castle
Finally, you can’t forget about the games! Why not try playing hide and seek? We’ll admit that idea is much less entertaining in a singular apartment, but if you can involve your neighbors, that could amplify the excitement. Other ideas include Halloween feel boxes, murder mystery games, and scary movie trivia!
