Clear Out All of the Clutter
Tidying up is easier said than done. But clearing out the clutter everywhere does more than making your pad look presentable. It livens up the entire place. Focus on common areas such as the living room, the kitchen, and the bathroom. Gather up junk mail and old bills that have been paid. Put away clothes and shoes. Wipe down the counters, and use the vacuum to pick up any loose debris or pet hair.
Rearrange the Furniture to Make Extra Room
You might feel like reorienting the layout of your furniture. Well, there’s no time quite like the present. Before your guests arrive, take the time to move furniture around. Push the furniture up against walls or set them up alongside one side of the room. That way, your guests will have a convenient spot to place their suitcases and luggage.
Put Together a Sleeping Area with a Comfy Bed
Depending on how late everyone wants to stay, you might need to put a “bedroom” together. Couches, futons, and murphy beds often fit the bill, but cushiony air mattresses take that idea to the next level. Use the sofa as a temporary headboard. Then distribute clean sheets, fresh pillowcases, and blankets as needed.
Enhance the Bedtime Ambiance
Continuing on that last point, do what you can to make bedtime as smooth as possible. Make sure light sources are easy to reach. Alternatively, if you have smart-plugs enabled, they can have a virtual assistant such as Alexa to switch the lights on and off. Best of all, your guests can even set a particular light level perfect for reading in bed or having a late-night snack while they watch Netflix and drift off!
Keep the Bathroom Well-Supplied
Last but not least, pay attention to the bathroom. It’s easy to let it get filthy, especially when it sees more users than normal. Some thoughtful preparations in your apartment bathroom include travel-size toiletry items, spare toothbrushes, clean towels and washcloths, and maybe slippers and a robe too!
